Long before he built a white-collar defense practice or took over as chairman of Pepper Hamilton, Thomas M. Gallagher served in the United States Navy. Though his 13 years of active service are long behind him, Captain Gallagher—the rank at which he retired—has made veterans’ issues a key aspect of his legal career and the affinity programs at Pepper Hamilton. As Veterans Day is upon us, The Legal checked in with Gallagher about his military service, its similarities with the law, what veterans bring to an organization and the many ways Pepper Hamilton is looking out for veterans in and outside of the firm.
