As young litigation associates, it is expected that we will work hard, meet deadlines and meet or exceed our billable-hour requirements. The question is how do we do all that while finding a way to surpass expectations, add value and grow our own professional network? The key is to be proactive, seek out opportunities, take risks and, most importantly, manage your time well. Do not get stuck behind your desk and feel compelled to follow a typical path—your time is limited so learn how to make the most of it.

Follow your passion and success will follow you

When you feel like you are constantly catching up on your work and wishing that there were more hours in the day, it may be hard to imagine making time to take on something new. It is much easier to pass up on opportunities than to fit them into your busy schedule. This is why it is important to periodically re-evaluate your schedule and make time for the things that you enjoy, which will contribute to your professional growth outside of the office.
