As the usual suspects roll out their 2016 bonus announcements, midmarket and midsize law firms based in Pennsylvania are abstaining from the competition, finding themselves in a separate league for rates and compensation.

Cravath, Swaine & Moore started the bonus conversation late last month, and Philadelphia-based Dechert matched Cravath within days. The bonus scale starts at $15,000 for new associates and reaches $100,000 for associates from the class of 2009 or earlier.
