The Pennsylvania Superior Court has declined to toss a $3 million verdict that a Jefferson County jury awarded against two radiologists who failed to detect a woman’s lung cancer.

A three-judge panel of the court Jan. 20 rejected efforts by one of the defendant doctors to have the appellate court toss the verdict that had deemed him 50 percent liable for the injuries. The ruling in Palar v. Wohlwend affirmed a decision from the Jefferson County Court of Common Pleas that had similarly rejected the defendant doctor’s efforts to reverse the jury’s findings.
