Executive orders signed Tuesday by President Donald Trump, which could clear the path for two major pipeline projects in the United States, may signal busy times ahead for energy law practices as clients face more federal support for pro-energy projects—as well as re-engergized environmental opposition.

Trump signed executive orders Tuesday to move forward on the Dakota Access oil pipeline and Keystone XL oil pipeline projects, which were held back under the previous administration in Washington. Lawyers said the action reflected Trump’s intention to follow through with pro-energy campaign promises.
