Former U.S. Rep. Michael Fitzpatrick, a Republican who represented Pennsylvania’s eighth district for eight years, is heading back to private practice and joining Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel.

Fitzpatrick will be a litigation partner in Obermayer’s Philadelphia office, the firm announced last week. Fitzpatrick served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2005 until losing his seat in 2007, and from 2011 until the end of last year when he declined to seek another term. He was on the House Financial Services Committee and sponsored legislation including the Credit Rating Agency Reform Act and the Reverse Mortgage Stabilization Act. He also chaired the Bipartisan Task Force to Investigate Terrorism Finance in 2015 and 2016.
