Timothy P. Ryan, who has led Pittsburgh-based Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott for 12 years, informed the firm Monday that he will step down as chief executive officer, effective March 1.

Ryan will return to his intellectual property and business litigation practice and will be replaced by a pair of co-chief executive officers, firm members Dorothy A. Davis and Timothy Q. Hudak. According to Davis, Ryan will help transition the new leadership but will not continue to be involved in the firm’s executive management.
