The Commonwealth Court has ruled that an Allegheny County trial judge didn’t have the authority to deny a school’s request that its police officers be armed with guns.

The court’s function is only to vet potential officers, Commonwealth Court Senior Judge Dan Pellegrini wrote in a Feb. 15 opinion.
