Aside from the list of top lateral hires, a number of attorneys made moves worth noting in 2016.

The 2016 runners-up include several moves spurred by firm dissolutions, with some groups of lawyers finding new homes together. The list also includes attorneys who moved to private practice after long careers as in-house counsel and in government. In addition, while a few lawyers listed below moved from their firms to new shops that were either similar in size or larger, a few actually moved to smaller firms, citing better opportunities to grow their practices.
