Two former Penn State administrators who reported to ex-university president Graham Spanier were assigned leading roles in the prosecution’s opening statements as Spanier’s criminal trial on child endangerment charges got underway Tuesday.

Speaking for about 30 minutes before a jury of 16, including four alternates, Deputy Attorney General Patrick Schulte focused on events dating back to 1998 in which Spanier was allegedly put on notice that convicted serial child molester Jerry Sandusky had showered with children on school property, but failed to take action.
