A federal judge in Pennsylvania had some strong words for a proposed class of natural gas pipeline inspectors when he slapped down their bid for conditional certification in a decision that could be a big win for the oil and gas industry.

U.S. District Judge Matthew Brann of the Middle District of Pennsylvania recently denied a request to certify a nationwide collective wage-and-hour suit against Gulf Interstate Field Services over claims that the company did not properly pay its pipeline inspectors overtime.
