One of the major blessings retirement gave me was the flexibility of my new schedule. For 30-plus years, I presided in my courtroom chained to the bench. After all, how would it have been received if I had announced one day that I was going to preside for a week by conference call from Florida? Probably, not very well for me or my next judicial assignment.
For those of us who grew up writing memos instead of texts and sending letters instead of emails, it is difficult to wrap our heads around the wonders of electronic media and how it can make our reinventions easier to create.
