The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has agreed to determine whether a party seeking access to public documents is entitled to pursue official copies through litigation when unofficial copies are readily available.
The justices granted allocatur May 16 in In re 2014 Allegheny County Investigating Grand Jury, taking up the petition of WPXI, a Pittsburgh-based television station that intervened in a grand jury investigation in pursuit of public judicial records regarding allegations of improper sexual relations between faculty and students at a local high school.
