A federal judge in Newark, N.J., has approved a $41 million settlement in class litigation alleging price rigging by dozens of industry-leading insurance carriers and brokers, bringing the total payments to $259 million so far.

The settlement, approved on March 30 by U.S. District Judge Claire Cecchi of the District of New Jersey, is the fourth in the action, and resolves claims against 11 defendants, including AIG Inc., Aon Corp., Hartford Fire Insurance Co., Liberty Mutual and Travelers Cos.
