Five high-profile members of the e-discovery community gathered in a panel on May 17 to discuss preservation and proportionality in legal holds from the perspectives of general counsel, litigators and the judiciary.

The panel, “Four Perspectives on Preservation and Proportionality,” included U.S. Magistrate Judge James Francis of the Southern District of New York; Lynn Dummett, senior vice president and senior counsel at Allianz Global Investors, and former litigation partner at Sidley Austin; William Butterfield, a partner at Hausfeld, who usually represents plaintiffs in antitrust litigation; and Robert Owen, a partner at Sutherland Asbill & Brennan, who advises financial services, energy and technology companies. (Owen is also a member of Legal affiliate Law Technology News ‘ editorial advisory board.)
