Prompted by a 2012 attack on an upstate city court that left a court officer injured and the gunman dead, court officers throughout the state are under a new Office of Court Administration mandate to wear bullet-proof vests while on duty.

Nearly 3,000 vests were distributed to officers beginning in February, although court administrators say a glitch has resulted in the need to re-size vests for about 400 female officers, who complained the vests did not provide adequate room in the bust area.
