Pennsylvania courts distributed more than $455 million in fees, fines, costs and restitution in 2013, with a record amount of funds being collected electronically.
According to the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts, the money primarily went to state and local governments, as well as crime victims. A small portion was distributed to schools, libraries and tax agencies. Counties, the AOPC said, received $156.7 million, local government programs received $51.3 million, victims of crime received $35.3 million in restitution and various agencies received $4.3 million.
