For Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll partner John P. Lavelle, it was a race against time. The 39-year-old was selected by The National Law Journal as one of the 40 most successful litigators under the age of 40 — developed through nominations from readers, suggestions from prominent lawyers and additional research — during his last year of eligibility.

Lavelle, who lateraled to Ballard Spahr in April from Hangley Aronchick Segal & Pudlin, has focused his practice on medical device and pharmaceutical products liability, class actions, complex commercial litigation and mass torts. He has been expected to promote the firm’s growth in products and class action litigation.
