According to the most recent story on the subject in Legal Week, published in the United Kingdom, Buchanan Ingersoll is set to lay off up to six partners from its London office as it moves to increase the profitability of its European practice. A spokeswoman for the firm said attributed comments from Buchanan chief operating officer Thomas Van Kirk that the London practice could shrink from nine to three partners are accurate.

Van Kirk, who was unavailable to speak with The Legal yesterday, told Legal Week that the possible departures are a product of a decision to focus on corporate finance and litigation.
