A Chester County trial court erred when it relied on the “neutral reportage privilege” in a defamation case because the privilege is not recognized in Pennsylvania and has very limited recognition elsewhere, the Superior Court has ruled.
As a result, the court has remanded Norton v. Glenn for a new trial against three media defendants who reported alleged defamatory statements made by William T. Glenn Sr., at the time a member of the Parkesburg Borough Council.
