The Philadelphia Common Pleas Court has handed down an opinion that could put an end to a 15 year long defamation trial waged between Municipal Judge Ronald Merriweather and Philadelphia Newspapers Inc.
Judges Barry F. Feudale, Emanuel A. Cassimatis and Alexander Endy composed a panel granting the defendant’s motion for judgment notwithstanding the verdict in Merriweather v. Philadelphia Newspapers Inc. PNI filed the post-trial motion against a $500,000 verdict in favor of Merriweather.
