President Bush last week nominated attorney Timothy J. Savage, a 56-year-old civil litigator and Democratic Party ward leader, to fill the final remaining vacancy on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
For Savage, the news of his nomination was bittersweet because it came on the same day that he found his mother, Edna Savage, dead in her home.
