Philadelphia Common Pleas Judge Alfred J. DiBona yesterday granted plaintiffs’ motions for sanctions, leave to seek punitive damages and for a contempt hearing after a hospital allegedly withheld medical documents during discovery and did not turn over the documents until this weekend.
In Scott v. Pendrak, now well into its third week of trial, plaintiff Wilamae Scott claims that Graduate Hospital and its doctors misdiagnosed her blood clotting disorder, which ultimately led to her right leg being amputated below the knee. She and her husband, John James, are suing the hospital and doctors who treated her.
