Parents who slowly watched their child die of a strep infection can sue their daughter’s treating doctors, nurses and hospital for negligent infliction of emotional distress, a common pleas court judge has ruled.

Lycoming County Judge William S. Kieser said the parents should be given the opportunity to prove a causal connection between their emotional distress injuries and the alleged negligence of the health care workers.
