A federal judge has granted final approval of a $21.9 million settlement in a class action antitrust suit that accused a group of manufacturers of electrical carbon products of engaging in a decade-long conspiracy to fix prices. The judge also awarded $5.7 million in attorney fees to the plaintiffs class lawyers.
For the team of mostly Philadelphia lawyers who represent the class, the ruling by U.S. District Judge Jerome B. Simandle of the District of New Jersey cinches a deal that at one time looked dead in the water.
