The final two defendants in a class action antitrust suit against the top manufacturers of automotive refinishing paint have agreed to pay $39 million to settle claims that they participated in a price-fixing conspiracy, bringing the total recovery in the case to more than $105 million.

In a six-page opinion in In re Automotive Refinishing Paint Antitrust Litigation handed down on Dec. 28, Eastern District of Pennsylvania Judge R. Barclay Surrick granted preliminary approval of the two settlements — $16 million from Sherwin-Williams Co. and $23 million from PPG Industries — clearing the way for notices to be sent to the class.
