Elizabeth Hutt had suffered more than a year of increasing pain after a root canal and saw doctor after doctor before finally being diagnosed with an infection of her jaw.

This April, a Philadelphia jury awarded Hutt $1.8 million in damages for the pain and suffering that ultimately deteriorated her jawbone and made it difficult for her to open her mouth or eat normal foods.
