SACRAMENTO — Hours after he was sworn in to a record fourth term as governor, Jerry Brown on Monday crossed the street from his Capitol office and welcomed two new justices to the California Supreme Court.

Justices Mariano-Florentino Cuéllar and Leondra Kruger took their oaths in an afternoon ceremony at the Stanley Mosk Library & Courts Building, which was crammed with family members, lawyers, politicians and jurists.

“This is today's hot ticket … next to the governor's inauguration,” Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye told the standing-room-only crowd.
