Cooley advises OnCore Biopharma in merger with Tekmira

Cooley provided U.S. counsel to Doylestown, Pa.-based OnCore Biopharma Inc. in the company's planned merger with Tekmira Pharmaceuticals Corp., based in Burnaby, British Columbia. OnCore is working on developing an oral medication to cure patients with Hepatitis B.

Palo Alto-based partner Frank Rahmani led the Cooley team, which included partners Jennifer Fonner Fitchen, Marya Postner, Mark Windfeld-Hansen, Renee Deming and Francis Fryscak and associates Robert Pratt and Jennifer Raab, as well as San Francisco-based associate Anne Lieberman. New York-based partners Div Gupta, Ivor Elrifi and Jeremy Naylor and associate Alison Haggerty also provided assistance, along with Reston, Va.-based partner Brian Leaf and associate Mark Ballantyne. Broomfield, Colo.-based partner Mark Hrenya also worked on the deal.
