SAN FRANCISCO — Colleen Chien has left her job as a White House adviser on patent policy and is returning to Santa Clara University School of Law. Chien, who was an associate professor there, took a leave in September 2013 to join the White House Office of Science and Technology, working as a consultant and senior adviser to U.S. Chief Technology Officer Todd Park.

Chien announced the move Thursday to her 1,300 Twitter followers.

“Done @whitehouseostp & back @SCUHTLI. Grateful and inspired by my time, and honored to serve @BarackObama with amazing Team @USCTO,” Chien wrote.
