SAN FRANCISCO — Gov. Jerry Brown named five new judges to the Bay Area’s trial courts Friday, three in San Francisco and two in Alameda. Ross Moody, Joseph Quinn and Sharon Reardon will take the bench in San Francisco County.

Moody, who is replacing Judge Julie Tang, most recently served as a deputy attorney general in the government law section for the civil division in the California Department of Justice. Before that, he had the same role, but for the appeals, writs and trials section for the state’s criminal division. In the early 1990s, Moody was a litigation associate at what is now Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman. Joining Moody is Joseph Quinn, who has been an appellate partner at Hanson Bridgett since 2010. He previously chaired the appellate practice at Meyers Nave, and earlier in his career was with Howard Rice Nemerovski Canady Falk & Rabkin. He is replacing Judge John Munter.
