A judge has enjoined worldwide patent litigation between multinational telecom giants as they prepare to hash out a royalty dispute in Los Angeles federal court.

U.S. District Judge James Selna on Friday halted litigation between Swedish infrastructure company Ericsson Inc. and Chinese smartphone maker TCL Communications Technology Holdings Ltd., granting TCL's motion for an anti-suit injunction against litigation in France, the United Kingdom, Brazil and Russia.

It's the second anti-suit injunction granted by a California judge in the past few weeks. On June 29, U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh ordered smartphone maker Pegatron Corp. to stop suing wireless licensing company Interdigital Inc. in Taiwan Intellectual Property Court and submit to arbitration.
