SAN FRANCISCO — Google Inc. has enlisted Cooley to fight patent infringement claims over the company's video technology—adding extra firepower to a roster that already included lawyers from Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.

Cooley partner Heidi Keefe entered an appearance on behalf of Google Friday and on the same day filed a motion to dismiss the suit on standing.

The suit was filed in the Northern District of California by Max Sound Corp., which claims it owns the rights to the video-reduction technology at issue. But Keefe argues the only party that has standing to sue is patent holder Vedanti Systems Ltd.
