SAN FRANCISCO — The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit on Thursday sided with Apple Inc. in its demand for a narrow sales ban against Samsung Electronics Co.

Ruling 2-1 over a vigorous dissent from the court's chief judge, the panel held that Apple put forth enough evidence after its 2014 trial victory to show that Samsung's use of three patented Apple features directly cut into demand for Apple products.

“Apple loses sales because Samsung products contain Apple's patented features,” wrote Judge Kimberly Ann Moore, in an opinion joined by Judge Jimmie Reyna.
