SAN FRANCISCO — The U.S. Marshals Service has been asked to look into how the home address of U.S. District Judge William Orrick III ended up in a public filing in a hot-button case he's handling that involves secretly recorded videos at two National Abortion Federation annual conferences.

In court papers filed Wednesday in support of a motion to disqualify Orrick from handling the case, anti-abortion activist David Daleiden attached a list of donors to a nonprofit organization which has housed a Planned Parenthood clinic at its facilities. The list included the home addresses for Orrick and others who donated to Good Samaritan Family Resource Center.

Frank Conroy, a spokesman for the Marhals, confirmed that the agency, which is responsible for protecting federal judges, was alerted about the disclosure. Conroy said it didn't appear Daleiden broke any law by obtaining the list, but that the Marshals will be “monitoring” whether the judge receives any threats going forward. “We continually monitor inappropriate communication to all judges, and that includes Judge Orrick,” Conroy said. A reporter from The Recorder downloaded a full copy of the 185-page affidavit filed in support of Daleiden's motion to disqualify Orrick Thursday morning. It has since been locked on Pacer. At the request of the court, The Recorder redacted the seven pages listing the addresses of Orrick and other donors.
