Jones Day has hired intellectual property litigator Andrea Jeffries as a partner in Los Angeles. Jeffries, who counts technology companies like Apple Inc. and Cisco Systems Inc. among her clients, was most recently a partner at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr.

Jeffries, one of The Recorder's 2016 Women Leaders in Tech Law, has also defended Converse Inc. in a trademark dispute over its iconic Chuck Taylor All Star shoe design and helped Nike Inc. reach a favorable settlement in a patent infringement dispute over software used in shoe design contests.

Jeffries joined Wilmer in 2011 from Munger, Tolles & Olson, where she helped create and led the latter's IP litigation practice. At Jones Day, Jeffries expects to continue growing her trade secrets practice, which has expanded in recent years. She's also hoping she'll be able to put her bachelor's degree in chemistry to use by taking on more pharmaceutical and life sciences matters. Jeffries said Jones Day's strength in that practice helped draw her to the firm.
