The court of appeals reversed a judgment of dismissal. The court held that an attorney could be held liable under the Fair Labor Standards Act for retaliating against a client's employee for the employee's actions in suing the client for labor code violations.

Undocumented dairy worker Jose Arias sued employer Angelo Dairy for labor code violations. Angelo's attorney, Anthony Raimondo, responded by contacting and cooperating with Immigration and Custom Enforcement (ICE) to have Arias deported. Upon learning that he faced possible deportation, Arias entered into a settlement and release of his claims against Angelo.
