Crowell & Moring, which has been busy on the lateral recruitment front in 2017, snagged intellectual property litigators Kent Goss and Valerie Goo this week in Los Angeles from Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe. Both lawyers come aboard as partners.

Goss, who had chaired Orrick's litigation group in Los Angeles since 2011, has worked on copyright, trademark and trade secret matters for clients including electronics manufacturers, startups and entertainment companies, as well as professional athletes like mixed martial arts star Royce Gracie and All-Pro quarterback Tom Brady. He and Goo both handle commercial litigation in addition to IP work. The two lawyers had each been at Orrick for 11 years.

Goo (pictured right) is also the secretary of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers in Los Angeles, and she knew several Crowell & Moring partners through that organization, including litigation co-chair Jennifer Romano, antitrust co-chair Jason Murray and management board member Daniel Sasse. She and Goss said that conversations with Crowell & Moring about them joining the firm began through those connections.
