VMware Inc., the Palo Alto-based cloud computing and virtualization software giant, has hired Amy Olli as senior vice president and general counsel. Olli, who officially begins work on Aug. 28, replaces former general counsel Dawn Smith, who left the company in May to join McAfee.
Olli joins VMware from Santa Clara-based telephone and wireless communications company Avaya Inc., where she served as GC since May 2014. Avaya filed for bankruptcy at the beginning of this year.
