Michael Jackson's MJJ Productions must pay music producer Quincy Jones $9.4 million in unpaid royalties from the soundtrack to the documentary film “This Is It” and the late pop star's Cirque du Soleil shows, a jury has ruled.

The verdict, announced Wednesday, came after two days of deliberations and capped a two-week trial before Judge Michael L. Stern in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Jones, 84, sued MJJ Productions, which is controlled by the pop icon's estate, in October 2013. He alleged breach of contract over the company's failure to pay him for using the music from several albums that he produced, including “Off the Wall,” “Thriller” and “Bad.”
