The Fourth Appellate District affirmed a judgment. In the published portion of its opinion, the court held that Boykin-Tahl advisements were not required regarding the potential sentencing implications of the defendant's admission that his crimes qualified as serious felonies.

Edward Button was charged with one count of corporal injury to a roommate and one count of assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury. At trial, Button stipulated to having inflicted great bodily injury on the victim. A jury subsequently found Button guilty of both offenses and, based on his stipulation, found true great bodily injury allegations as to both offenses.
