Shartsis Friese promoted Michael Dell to partner in its corporate transactional practice. Dell is based in the firm's San Francisco office, and joined Shartsis Friese as an associate in 2013.
Labor and employment attorney Sylvia Kim has been promoted to partner by McGuireWoods. Kim is based in San Francisco and practices employment and commercial litigation.
Helen Luetto returned to Walsworth as a partner in the firm's office in Orange, practicing products liability and employment law. She previously was at Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith.
Idan Netser has joined Fenwick & West's tax group as partner. Netser will be based in the Mountain View office, and had previously served as an associate in Fenwick's tax group.
White & Case has named Jeremy Ostrander counsel in its global antitrust practice. Ostrander is based in Silicon Valley.
Crowell & Moring brought on Gabriel Ramsey as a litigation and privacy and cybersecurity partner in the firm's San Francisco office. Ramsey previously served as Orrick's cybersecurity and data privacy group leader.
Xiaoyan Zhang joined Reed Smith's San Francisco office as counsel in its global information technology, privacy and data security group. Previously, Zhang led Mayer Brown JSM's intellectual property practice in Hong Kong and Shanghai.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024.
