Brendan Joy joined Fisher Phillips as of counsel in the Los Angeles office. Joy joins the labor and employment firm from Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart.

Ropers Majeski Kohn & Bentley brought on Mitchell Kim as a partner in its business and commercial litigation practice. Kim will be based in the Los Angeles office, and previously was partner at Litchfield Cavo in Pasadena.

Rebecca King joined Fisher Phillips as an employment litigation associate. King previously worked as an extern for the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Central District of California. She will be based in the Irvine office.

The Buchalter Law Firm expended its labor and employment practice by bringing on shareholder Dawn Knepper. She previously was at Ogletree Deakins and will be based in the Orange County office.

Donald Morrow joined JAMS an arbitrator, mediator and special master in its Orange County office. Morrow was previously a partner at Paul Hastings, and focuses his practice in disputes including antitrust/competition, intellectual property, and professional liability.

Michael Mortenson joined Stradling Yocca Carlson & Rauth as a shareholder in its litigation practice group in the Newport Beach office. A trial lawyer, Mortenson previously was at Baker & Hostetler.

Gensler has promoted general counsel and corporate secretary Philippe Phaneuf to principal in its Los Angeles office. Phaneuf leads the global design firm's legal, compliance, and risk management strategies. Before Gensler, he was a partner at Dechert.

Vickie Turner will receive the Author E. Hughes Career Achievement Award in April from the University of San Diego. A partner at Wilson Turner Kosmo, Turner graduated from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1982. The award was created in 1996 and named for the school of law's first president.
