William Bernfeld joined Akerman's Los Angeles office as a partner. Bernfeld will be part of the firm's real estate practice, with a focus on financial services and commercial real estate. Previously, he was partner at K&L Gates.

Blank Rome hired Emily Borman as an associate in the Los Angeles office. Previously at Carothers DiSante & Freudenberger, Borman focuses her practice on labor and employment litigation.

Farella Braun + Martel recently named two partners in the San Francisco office to leadership positions. Anthony P. Schoenberg is now the chairman of the Business Litigation practice area and oversees the firm's pro bono litigation, and Thomas B. Mayhew, who was president of the Northern California chapter of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers in 2017, is the chairman of the Complex Litigation Department.

JAMS recently brought on Lisa Jaye as a mediator, arbitrator and special master to its San Francisco Resolution Center. Previously at Hancock, Rothert & Bunshoft, Jaye will focus on employment, insurance, personal injury, professional liability and class actions.

San Francisco-based Fox Rothschild just brought on Nathan A. Schultz as counsel in the Financial Restructuring and Bankruptcy Department. Previously, Schultz ran the private practice eLASTICITY.

Janet I. Levine and Jeffrey H. Rutherford recently joined the Los Angeles firm Kendall Brill & Kelly as partners. Rutherford and Levine are both former deputy federal public defenders. Levine focuses on health care, tax fraud and public corruption matters, while Rutherford concentrates on civil and criminal jury trial work, as well as white-collar criminal defense.

Lewis Zirogiannis joined Reed Smith's San Francisco office as a partner in the global regulatory enforcement practice. Previously, he was executive counsel at General Electric.
