It’s been nine months of tech-world drama over data breaches, EU regulations and fake news—all while Google’s global head of policy chair sat empty.

That seat was filled Thursday, Axios has reported, by Karan Bhatia, who has spent the past decade in-house at General Electric. His focus at GE was government affairs and policy, and he was named president of that department earlier this year.
