Firms that traditionally call California home have nabbed six of the 20 spots in the annual A-List ranking The American Lawyer released on Tuesday. The A-List formula aims to measure the most successful firms in the United States based on a combination of financial and cultural factors: revenue per lawyer, pro bono commitment, associate satisfaction and racial diversity, with RPL and pro bono given double weight. This year's ranking added a fifth component to the scoring metric: a female equity partner score, to reward the firms that have made the most progress in advancing women in the partnership ranks. The NLJ recently reported that only 19 percent of all Big Law partners are female. Again, on this list, profits don't reign supreme, nor does size. The goal is to highlight the most well-rounded, and elite firms. Below are the six California A-Listers. Congratulations!
