A team of O'Melveny & Myers lawyers has sued Beverly Hills for grounding Bird's fleet of shared motorized scooters.

A complaint filed Thursday in Los Angeles County Superior Court alleges the tony Southern California city illegally rushed through an emergency ordinance this summer barring the use of “shared mobility devices” within its boundaries and has since impounded more than 1,000 of Bird's two-wheeled transports.

“Bird brings this action to halt [the police department's] routine violation of Bird's due-process and property rights,” says the complaint, signed by O'Melveny partner Margaret Carter. “The city's ordinance is invalid, and every seizure and impound made under its authority is unlawful.”
