Peter Anderson joined Davis Wright Tremaine as a partner in the firm's media and entertainment practice group. He represents clients in music and motion picture copyright cases, breach of contract, tortious interference, trademark and fraud claims. He will be based in Los Angeles.
Newmeyer & Dillion brought on James Ficenec as a partner in the Walnut Creek office. He focuses his practice on business transactions and litigation. Previously, he was a partner at Archer Norris.
Gov. Jerry Brown appointed Wendy McGuire Coats as a Superior Court judge in Contra Costa County. Coats is a partner and appellate counsel at labor and employment law firm Fisher & Phillips. She will fill the vacancy left by retired Judge Barry Goode.
Finch, Thornton & Baird brought on Lindsey Herzik and Melissa Rose to its practice. Herzik focuses on business disputes and litigation, construction law, federal civil procedure, and antitrust and shareholder litigation. Rose focuses on claims and disputes, collections, insurance defense and labor and employment. Both attorneys will be based in San Diego.
Gunderson Dettmer Stough Villeneuve Franklin & Hachigian promoted three associates to partners in California. Aaron Fiske and Brendan McCarthy in the intellectual property and tech transactions group, and Joseph Raffetto in the corporate and securities group. Fiske is based in Silicon Valley, McCarthy is based in San Diego, and Raffetto is based in San Francisco.
Matthew Schonholz joined Munger, Tolles & Olson as counsel in the corporate group in Los Angeles. He focuses his practice on advising companies and investment funds on mergers, equity and asset acquisitions. He was formerly an associate at Sidley Austin. Munger Tolles also promoted eight attorneys to partner in California: Zachary Briers, Jennifer Broder, Rose Ehler and Kuruvilla Olasa in Los Angeles, and Jeremy Lawrence, Laura Lin, Achyut Phadke and Justin Raphael in San Francisco.
O'Melveny & Myers named four attorneys to partner in California. Dimitri Portnoi focuses his practice on complex business and appellate litigation; Daniel Suvor focuses on regulatory and government affairs, as well as white-collar defense; Susannah Howard focuses on labor and employment; and Vincent Zhou focuses on intellectual property and patent litigation. All four attorneys were previously counsel at the firm. Portnoi, Suvor and Zhou are based in Los Angeles, while Howard is based in San Francisco.
Andrea Oxman joined Jackson Lewis as a principal in the Los Angeles office. Oxman focuses her practice on employment litigation and class actions. She was previously a shareholder at Klinedinst PC.
Greenspoon Marder brought on Jayesh Patel as a partner in the litigation practice. Patel focuses his practice on complex financial, real estate and commercial litigation. Previously, he was a partner at Zuber Lawler & Del Duca. He will be based in the Los Angeles office.
Sidley Austin promoted three partners in California: Rachel Straus in Century City, Matthew Dolan in Palo Alto, and Kevin Rubino in San Francisco. All three attorneys are part of the firm's litigation practice.
Willkie Farr & Gallagher will open an office in Palo Alto. Leading the new office will be Tiffany Lee and Matthew Berger, former corporate partners at Paul Hastings. Lee will serve as the office managing partner in Palo Alto. The office will be located at 1801 Page Mill Rd.

The court action, filed Nov. 25 in Michigan Eastern District Court by Hooper Hathaway PC on behalf of The Town Residences LLC, accuses Crown Castle of failing to transfer approximately $30,000 in utility payments from T-Mobile in breach of a roof-top lease and assignment agreement.
