Tucker Ellis promoted Michael Adelsheim to partner in the intellectual property practice. Adelsheim's practice focuses on intellectual property law matters, including patent applications and patent portfolio management. He is based in San Francisco.
Retired U.S. Magistrate Judge Jan Adler joined Judicate West as a neutral in the San Diego office. Adler has served as magistrate judge for the Southern District of California for 15 years, and also had 25 years of experience as a trial lawyer prior to his bench appointment.
Alston & Bird promoted two attorneys to partner in California. Samuel Park is part of the litigation and trial practice group, and has experience in class actions, complex commercial cases and arbitrations and regulatory matters. Courtney Wright is part of the real estate finance and investment group, and focuses her practice on real estate finance and capital markets. Both attorneys are based in the Los Angeles office.
Robert Barton was promoted to partner at Holland & Knight in the firm's business practice. Barton focuses on complex trust and estate litigation and administration. Previously, he was senior counsel at the firm. Barton is based in Los Angeles.
Shaye Diveley has been promoted to principal at Meyers Nave. Diveley is part of the firm's land use and environmental law practice group, and has experience with issues involving land use and zoning. She will be based in the Oakland office.
Finch, Thornton & Baird hired Thomas Diamond and Cory DiBene as associates. Diamond focuses his practice on construction law claims and disputes, collections and general business and commercial litigation. DiBene's practice focuses on contractor and subcontractor disputes, federal procurement and claims and commercial real estate. Both attorneys will be based in the San Diego office.
Jones Day promoted seven attorneys to partner in California: Aarthi Belani, An Doan and Catherine Zeng in Silicon Valley; Rowan Mason in San Francisco; Cameron Reese in San Diego; Carol Su in Irvine; and Carolyn Woodson in Los Angeles.
Courtney Rangen joined real estate law firm Pircher, Nichols & Meeks as partner. Previously, Rangen was partner in the real estate practice at Sidley Austin for 12 years. She will be based in Los Angeles.
AnnaMarie Van Hoesen was promoted to partner at Jenner & Block. She focuses her practice on entertainment, intellectual property and professional responsibility matters. Van Hoesen is based in the Los Angeles office.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

Edmund Polubinski and Marie Killmond of Davis Polk & Wardwell have entered appearances for data platform software development company MongoDB and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The case is 1:24-cv-07594, Roy v. Ittycheria et al.

The suit was filed Sept. 7 in Wisconsin Western District Court by Levine Eisberner LLC and Siri & Glimstad on behalf of a project manager who claims that he was wrongfully terminated after applying for a religious exemption to the defendant's COVID-19 vaccine mandate. David X. Sullivan, Thomas J. Finn and Gregory A. Hall from McCarter & English have entered appearances for Sunrun Installation Services in a pending civil rights lawsuit. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer, is 3:24-cv-01423, Steins v. Sunrun, Inc. et al.
