New hires and partner promotions from across the California legal market.

Glaser Weil promoted senior associate Amin Al-Sarraf to partner in the firm's litigation department. He represents corporations, small businesses government agencies and individuals in civil disputes. He is based in the firm's downtown Los Angeles office.
Wendy Baker joined Fisher Phillips as of counsel in the Irvine office. Baker's experience focuses on defending employers in state and federal court. Previously, she was in-house employment counsel at Dream Center Education Holdings.
Blank Rome hired Steven Economou as an associate in the firm's finance, restructuring and bankruptcy group. Economou represents banks, financial institutions and borrowers, and also represents clients in mergers and acquisitions and corporate transactions. He previously was an associate at Elkins Kalt Weintraub Reuben Gartside, and will be based in the Los Angeles office.
DLA Piper brought on Joseph Myszka in the firm's tax practice. Myszka focuses on resolving complex tax disputes and international tax planning, and advises clients on high technology tax issues, structuring international operations, cross-border transactions, tax credit optimization and transfer pricing considerations. Previously, he was a partner at Baker McKenzie. In addition, real estate partner Jerold Neuman was appointed the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce's 2019 Chair of the Board. Neuman's practice focuses on representing companies and individuals in the public and private sector.
Lisa Gilford joined Sidley Austin as a partner in the firm's global litigation group. Gilford's practice focuses on complex commercial litigation. Previously, Gilford was a partner at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. She is based in the Los Angeles office.
Hogan Lovells named Clay James the office managing partner in the firm's San Francisco office. Clay works on high-stakes intellectual property disputes, class actions, privacy and data security and complex commercial litigation.
Scott Oliver joined Greenberg Traurig as a shareholder in the intellectual property litigation practice. Oliver's practice focuses on defending and advising companies in the wireless, software, semiconductor and digital distribution industries. He will be based in the Silicon Valley office. He was previously a partner at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe.
Loeb & Loeb brought on Shahrooz Shahnavaz as a partner. He specializes in federal income tax law and compliance. He will be based in the Los Angeles office. Previously, he was a shareholder at Stradling Yocca Carlson & Rauth.
Steven Spiess has been appointed chief executive officer at Ropers Majeski, the first CEO in the firm's history. Previously, Spiess was chief operating officer at Brownstein Myatt Farber Schreck. He will be based in the Los Angeles office.
Jennifer White was promoted to partner at Pircher, Nichols & Meeks. White focuses her practice on complex commercial real estate transactions. She joined the firm as an associate in the real estate group eight years ago. White is based in the Los Angeles office.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The suit was filed Sept. 7 in Wisconsin Western District Court by Levine Eisberner LLC and Siri & Glimstad on behalf of a project manager who claims that he was wrongfully terminated after applying for a religious exemption to the defendant's COVID-19 vaccine mandate. The case, assigned to U.S. Magistrate Judge Anita Marie Boor, is 3:24-cv-00630, Secker, Nathan v. Epic Systems Corporation.

David X. Sullivan, Thomas J. Finn and Gregory A. Hall from McCarter & English have entered appearances for Sunrun Installation Services in a pending civil rights lawsuit. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer, is 3:24-cv-01423, Steins v. Sunrun, Inc. et al.
